If you’re like me, you’re always on the lookout for new ways to use your air fryer. And if you’re really like me, you also have a collection of silicone moulds that you’ve amassed over the years. So, can you use silicone moulds in an air fryer?

The popularity of air fryers has risen recently, making them quite hard to come by at times. They are a great way to cook food without using up a lot of oil whilst demanding less energy to run than a typical fan or gas oven.

Silicone cookware has always been popular because it is very durable and can withstand high temperatures. It is also non-stick, so you don’t have to worry about food sticking to it. Additionally, silicone is very versatile and can be used for a variety of tasks in the kitchen beyond just cooking – I typically rely on it for food storage and preparation too.

Another great benefit of silicone cookware is that it is extremely easy to clean. Because it is non-stick, any residue or food will easily come off with just a quick wipe down. You won’t have to scrub hard to get your silicone moulds or utensils clean.

I love my air fryer

As mentioned above, air fryers have been the must-have appliance this year. I love the fact it can cook food faster and more evenly than my gas oven. I’m terrified of burning food or not cooking it thoroughly!

But what exactly is an air fryer, and how does it work? An air fryer is basically a small convection oven. It works by circulating hot air around the food, using less oil than traditional methods. This means that food cooked in an air fryer is generally healthier than food cooked in a deep fryer. And because air fryers cook food more evenly, you’re much less likely to end up with undercooked or burnt food.

However, air fryers are good for much more than chips and sausages, they are also ideal for baking anything from cakes to cookies.

Can you use silicone moulds in an air fryer?

The short answer is yes, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

With silicone moulds being heat-resistant (up to as much a 250 °C) you don’t need to worry about them melting or warping in the high heat of an air fryer.

However, I’ve found that it’s important to make sure to place your silicone mould on a baking sheet or rack before baking, so that hot air can circulate evenly around the mould.

I’ll also advise that it’s best to use silicone moulds specifically designed for baking, as these will be more durable and won’t break as easily.

So go ahead and experiment with using silicone moulds in your air fryer – just make sure to follow these simple tips and you’ll be sure to have success.
